Australian Labradoodle Puppy Adoption Process

The adoption fee for our Australian Labradoodle puppies is $3500.

Submit a Completed Puppy Application

To reserve an Australian Labradoodle puppy from an upcoming litter, families submit a completed Puppy Application. Once the application is received, we will contact the family to discuss their preferences and the available or upcoming litters that match them. As an optional step, families are welcome to meet with our team on Zoom. This virtual meeting allows a family to see Australian Labradoodles in our home and learn about sizes, colors, and behavior.

Send a Reservation Fee to Join the Waitlist

The non-refundable $500 Reservation Fee covers administrative costs in preparing a family to bring home their new Australian Labradoodle puppy. As long as the family moves forward in the purchase of an Australian Labradoodle puppy, then the Fee is applied toward the total adoption fee. The Fee also secures a family’s selection order on the Waitlist (read more about puppy selection below).

It is not uncommon for families to wait six months to a year for the right Australian Labradoodle puppy from us, but sometimes we are able to provide the right fit in less than 3-6 months. Most of our Australian Labradoodle puppies are reserved prior to six weeks of age, with occasional exceptions if there are changes to a Waiting List or if a mom has more puppies than expected.

The first two spots on each Waiting List are reserved for Davis Doodles Labradoodles Breeder Selections. This does not mean we always keep back two Australian Labradoodle puppies (in fact, that is rare), but we reserve the right to do so. If your favorite puppy is chosen as a Breeder Pick, you may want to consider a Guardianship for that Australian Labradoodle puppy.

Watch the Birth and Development of the Puppies

Families are informed when litters are bred, and once a family has decided to move forward with a particular litter, they receive email Pupdates, pictures, and resources to help prepare families to bring Puppy home. As the moms go into labor, a puppy camera feed is made available to Waitlist families so they can watch the birth and development of the puppies over time . When the babies are born, a payment of $1500 is due, with the $1500 balance due before Puppy Selection when the puppies are between seven and eight weeks old.

Choose a Puppy at the Virtual Selection Meeting

We utilize the services of a Certified Professional Trainer for litter evaluations and advice on matching Australian Labradoodle puppies to families after the puppies are 7 weeks of age. Those results, along with information provided on your Puppy Application and Puppy Personality & Preference Profile (that is sent out prior to the litter evaluations), help us narrow down the available Australian Labradoodle puppies to the ones best suited for your living environment, family makeup, and lifestyle.

We DO allow families to be involved in the decision-making part of our selection process for pet puppies which is why we do not do allocations like many other reputable breeders. However, we discourage families from making their choice based solely on photos or visual appearance, rather than basing their decision on temperament which is our main focus here at Davis Doodles Labradoodles. Therefore, at the virtual Puppy Selection Meeting, families are “introduced” to two (occasionally three) Australian Labradoodle puppies that have been predetermined to be a good fit for them from a temperament, personality and energy level standpoint based on all the information we have including the results of the temperament testing by our trainers, the Application, Puppy Personality Profile and any communication we may have had.

We cannot guarantee that any Australian Labradoodle puppies in a particular litter that are the right fit for a family temperamentally will ALSO meet any color or gender specifications, so we strongly encourage families to be open to the right dog for them. Having inflexible color and gender preferences automatically reduces the number of pups in a litter that we can consider for your family, but we do attempt to meet color and gender preferences when possible. If families do not wish to move forward after meeting the available recommended options for ANY reason, they have the option to defer to a future litter.

Attend Virtual Go Home Meeting

After Selection, we complete final payments, send out the sales contracts for signature, and host a mandatory virtual Group Go Home meeting (via Zoom) with the primary caregiver(s) of the Australian Labradoodle puppy. Families receive their link to download our “Super Amazing Puppy Book” with loads of information on raising an Australian Labradoodle puppy including Year One Important Dates, Potty Training, Socialization, Training, Grooming, Developmental Periods, Health and much more!

Pick Up Your Puppy

During the last few days that Puppy is with us, we call them by the name you have chosen for them, continue working on outside pottying habits, and introduce them to individual crate-training overnight to ease the transition into your home. Many of our Australian Labradoodle puppies go home sleeping 6-8 hours a night! On Pickup Day at our home near Atlanta, Georgia (GA), we meet families one at a time in the yard for a brief visit to share Puppy’s progress on crate and potty habits and then send families on their way to begin the exciting journey of welcoming their new furry family member home! Please note that we don’t ship puppies on an airplane or other mode of transportation. We do have Flight Nanny and Drive Nanny options available if you are not able to come to Atlanta for pickup.

Following Pickup, we remain available by phone, text or email to answer any questions, help with any transitional concerns, and advise you on anything related to Puppy. If we don’t know the answers, we seek them out as part of our commitment to supporting you and your family on the wild adventure of raising your Davis Doodles Labradoodles puppy to be all they can be!
